Biography

Rene Worst was born in Ifar, New Guinnea in 1954. He moved to Canada with his family in 1960, settling on the West Coast where he grew up and went to school. At an early age he showed an aptitude for music, in particular Jazz bass, and it wasn’t long before he was out establishing himself as a leading jazz bassist, first nationally, then later around the world.

Rene was voted Bassist of the year by the BC CARAS Tribute to West Coast Music for 1986, 1987, 1989, and 1990 ... until the awards were discontinued.

Rene plays string bass, four-string, five-string, and six-string electric bass, fretless bass, and piccolo bass. As well as many album sessions (see the list below) his studio work includes jingles and movie scores.
